The Périgord green

Authentic, far from mass tourism, a good starting point for many activities.

The diverse landscape, with its forests, meadows, valleys, rivers, streams, rocks and cliffs, lends itself to rock climbing (at Paussac, 10 kms from the campsite), canoeing (the Dronne descent is 5 kms away), fishing (the river is 1km away), mountain biking, cycling and hiking circuits and trails, and a variant of the Santiago de Compostela trail passes close to the campsite.

Périgueux City of Art and History. The basilica church of St Front and the Gallo-Roman Vesunna museum bear witness to the town's ancient past. The center has a rich Renaissance heritage where you can enjoy a gastronomic, historical and tourist tour. Festival du Mime and Maccadamjazz in summer.
Truffle Ecomuseum Truffle Ecomuseum in Sorges, the Pauze mill and its eco-museum, learn how to make bread.
Brantôme "La Vénise du Périgord", the Benedictine abbey with its cloister, church and bell tower (the oldest Campanile in France), troglodytic trail, the famous grotto of the Last Judgement and the Monks' Garden.
Château de Bourdeilles 35m high, medieval castle dating from the 13th century with its 35 m high keep (14th century), its renaissance palace with a valuable securities collection, a seigniorial mill, a forebay bridge and fortifications.
The Villars cave A limestone cave with some 30 frescoes and engravings.
The Lascaux cave The masterpiece of prehistoric art, 200 m of rooms and galleries featuring numerous animals.

Périgord Vert is rich in culture and history. Périgueux, Sarlat , Bergerac, Cognac, Brantôme, Bourdeilles: picturesque towns. It's up to you to discover all this heritage.

Every Tuesday morning between June 15 and September 15, there's a local farmers' market, and every Wednesday evening in Bourdeilles there's "Saveurs Nocturnes", a gourmet market featuring local producers. Flea market and garage sale.
